Find it with Google’s free Place ID Finder: search for your business on the map, pick your listing, and copy the ID it shows.
Manage your Google Business Profile? You can also get a short share link from Google: search for your business while signed in to the account that manages it and look for Ask for reviews or Get more reviews. Google renames these buttons from time to time.
Your review link
Paste your Place ID above and your link and ready-to-send requests appear here.
Fewer taps between a happy job and a review
Asking a customer to find you on Google and leave a review sends them on a hunt: search, pick the right listing, scroll, find the button. Plenty of people give up partway. A direct link skips all of it and opens the review box for your business in one tap.
The link is built from your Place ID, the code Google uses for your listing. This tool builds the link in your browser, checks that the ID looks complete, and drops it into short requests you can send after every job.
How to use the google review link generator
1
Find your Place ID
Open Google’s Place ID Finder, search for your business name, pick your listing, and copy the ID. Business IDs usually start with ChIJ.
2
Paste it here
Paste the ID and add your business name. The tool builds the review link and checks that the ID looks right.
3
Test it, then send
Open the link yourself to make sure it shows your business. Then copy the text or email and send it to every customer after the job.
What a Place ID is
Google gives every place on its maps a Place ID, a long code that points to one listing. Business listings usually start with ChIJ. Google’s Place ID Finder, on its Maps developer site, shows the ID when you search for your business. If you move, merge, or recreate your listing, look it up again and test the link.
Google’s rules for asking
Google’s review policy lets you ask customers for reviews, but you have to ask everyone, not just the people you expect to be happy. Screening customers first and only sending the satisfied ones to Google is called review gating, and the policy forbids it. So does offering anything in return, like a discount, a gift, or an entry in a drawing.
The other way: Ask for reviews
If you manage your Google Business Profile, Google can give you a short share link too. Search for your business on Google while signed in to the account that manages it, and look for Ask for reviews or Get more reviews. Either link works. The Place ID link is handy when you don’t have access to the profile, like when you set it up for a client.
When and how to ask
Ask soon after the work is done, while the visit is fresh, and keep it short. One clear request with one link is easier to act on than a long email with several choices. Ask every customer the same way, every time, so your reviews reflect your real work.
Or let FrontDesk Talk handle it
Every review starts with a call that got answered
FrontDesk Talk answers every call 24/7, books the job on Real Talk, and sends you a Talk Note after each call, so you know exactly who to thank and ask. Real Talk is $199 a month with no contract.
Questions
How do I find my Google Place ID?
Open Google’s Place ID Finder at developers.google.com/maps/documentation/places/web-service/place-id, type your business name into the search box on the map, and pick your listing. The Place ID shows up on the map. Copy all of it.
Does the review link expire?
It keeps working as long as your listing has the same Place ID. If you move, merge, or recreate your listing, build a new link and test it.
Can I offer a discount for a review?
No. Google’s policy does not allow money, discounts, gifts, or any other reward in exchange for reviews, even honest ones.
Can I ask only my happy customers?
No. Asking only the customers you expect to leave good reviews, or screening people before you send the link, is review gating, and Google’s policy does not allow it. Ask everyone.
Is it OK to text customers a review request?
Text people who gave you their number and expect to hear from you, like a customer you just served. Keep it to one request and one reminder at most.
Does this tool send my Place ID anywhere?
No. The link is built in your browser. Nothing is sent to us or to Google until you or a customer opens the link.
