Tell customers once, everywhere they look
Customers check different places before they call or drive over: your Google listing, your website, your social page, or the phone itself. When one says closed and another says open, people lose trust or show up to a locked door.
This generator writes one consistent set of holiday hours messages, with the right date for the next time the holiday comes around. Pick closed or shorter hours, choose the day you reopen, and copy each piece where it belongs.
How to use the holiday message generator
1
Pick the holiday
Choose from the US holidays in the list. The date shown is the next time that holiday falls, worked out for you.
2
Set your hours
Closed all day, or open shorter hours. Then pick the day you reopen or go back to regular hours. Any days in between are listed as closed.
3
Copy each piece
Record the voicemail, add the banner to your site, post on Google and social, and send the text or email line to regular customers.
When to post holiday hours
About a week ahead works for most businesses: early enough for people planning around the holiday, close enough that they still remember. Post again the day before. When a holiday makes a long weekend, list every closed day, not just the holiday itself.
Set special hours on Google, not just a post
A Google Business Profile post is easy to miss. Special hours change what Google Search and Maps show for that date, which is often the first place people check. Add special hours for the holiday, then use the post for the details and a friendly note.
Keep every channel saying the same thing
Use the same dates and hours everywhere: voicemail, website, Google, social, and texts. Mixed messages are worse than no message. Once the holiday is over, switch your voicemail back and take the banner down.
Match the sign-off to the day
Some holidays are celebrations and others are days of remembrance. “Happy Memorial Day” can feel off to some customers, so the sign-offs here are picked to fit each holiday, like a quieter note for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Questions
How far ahead should I post holiday hours?
About a week ahead, with a reminder the day before. Set special hours on your Google Business Profile as soon as you know them.
What should a holiday voicemail greeting say?
That you are closed, which days, when you reopen, and what callers can do in the meantime, like leaving a message. Keep the dates specific. “Closed Thursday, November 26” is clearer than “closed for the holiday.”
Do I need to update Google if I post on social media?
Yes. Many people see your hours on Google Search or Maps before they ever visit your social pages. Special hours in your Business Profile are what Google shows for that date.
Is the date shown right for my holiday?
Each date is worked out in your browser for the next time the holiday comes around, including floating holidays like Thanksgiving and Memorial Day. When a fixed-date holiday falls on a weekend, many businesses close on the nearest weekday instead, so check your own calendar before you post.
Can FrontDesk Talk answer calls while we’re closed?
Yes. It answers 24/7, holidays included, takes messages, and sends urgent calls to your cell. You get a Talk Note after every call, so you can enjoy the day and catch up after.
