Start with Real Talk

Pick a plan from your calls, not a guess

Each FrontDesk Talk plan includes a set number of minutes of Talk Time a month: 200 on Small Talk, 450 on Real Talk, and 1,000 on Big Talk. Extra minutes are $0.45 each. The right plan is the one with the lowest total once those extra minutes are counted, which is not always the smallest plan.

Because FrontDesk Talk answers 24/7, the calls that go to voicemail today, at night and on weekends, will use minutes too. This calculator lets you add those, so the estimate matches how your phone will actually be answered.

How to use the talk time calculator

  1. 1

    Count your calls

Use a normal day or week from your call log. Include the calls you missed, since every call gets answered.

  2. 2

    Estimate call length

Check the durations in your call log. Quick questions are short, bookings and quotes run longer. Use the middle.

  3. 3

    Add after-hours calls

If your count only covers open hours, add the calls you expect at night and on weekends. Then compare the plans.

How monthly minutes are worked out

Calls a day times the days the phone rings gives calls a week. A month has about 4.33 weeks (52 weeks divided by 12), so calls a week times 4.33 gives calls a month. Add your after-hours calls, then multiply by your average call length to get minutes.

When a bigger plan is cheaper

Every minute past a plan’s included minutes costs $0.45. At some point those extra minutes cost more than moving up. Small Talk plus extra Talk Time passes the $199 price of Real Talk at 423 minutes a month, and Real Talk plus extra Talk Time passes the $399 price of Big Talk at 895 minutes.

Why call length matters as much as call count

Ten calls at two minutes is 20 minutes. Ten calls at six minutes is 60. Calls that book an appointment or walk through a quote take longer than a quick question about your hours, so check real durations in your call log instead of guessing.

Or let FrontDesk Talk handle it

Questions

What is Talk Time?

Talk Time is the minutes of calls FrontDesk Talk handles for you. Each plan includes a monthly amount, and extra minutes are $0.45 each.

What happens if I go over my minutes?

Extra Talk Time is billed at $0.45 a minute. If you go over most months, the table shows whether a bigger plan would cost less overall.

Should I count the calls I miss today?

Yes. FrontDesk Talk answers every call, 24/7, including the ones that go to voicemail now. Leaving them out makes your estimate too low.

How do I find my average call length?

Your phone’s recent calls list and your carrier’s call log show how long each call lasted. Add up the durations for a normal week and divide by the number of calls.

Am I locked into the plan I pick?

No. There is no contract, so you are not stuck with a plan you picked from an estimate.
