Forward your business line without changing your number

The three kinds of call forwarding, which one to pick, and how to test it before customers call.

You don’t need a new number or a new phone system to use FrontDesk Talk. You tell your current carrier to send calls to your receptionist. There are three ways to do it, and the right one depends on how much you want to answer yourself.

Forward all calls

Every call goes straight to your receptionist. Best if you’re usually on a job and want every caller handled the same way. You still get a text and email about each call, and urgent ones get transferred to you.

Forward when you don’t answer

Your phone rings first. If you don’t pick up after a few rings, the call goes to your receptionist instead of voicemail. Best if you like answering when you can.

Forward when you’re busy or unreachable

Calls go to your receptionist when you’re already on a call, or when your phone is off or out of signal. Most owners combine this with forwarding on no answer.

Test it before you rely on it

  1. Turn on forwarding with your carrier.
  2. Call your business number from a different phone.
  3. Let it ring through and talk to your receptionist.
  4. Check that the summary text arrives.

Every carrier does this a little differently. Our step-by-step guides cover the common ones.
