Forward calls from AT&T to FrontDesk Talk.

AT&T mobile phones use short dial codes to turn forwarding on and off. It takes about a minute.

Which kind of forwarding to use

Always

Every call goes to FrontDesk Talk and your phone never rings. Use it when you want the AI to answer everything, or at night and on weekends.

No answer

Your phone rings first. If you don’t pick up, the call moves to FrontDesk Talk. This is the setup most owners start with.

Busy

If you’re already on a call or you decline one, the caller goes to FrontDesk Talk instead of voicemail.

Unreachable

If your phone is off, out of battery, or has no signal, calls still get answered.

Our advice for AT&T: Start with no answer, plus busy and unreachable as backups. Your phone rings first, and FrontDesk Talk picks up anything you miss.

The AT&T codes

Busy**67*Talk number###67#
Unreachable**62*Talk number###62#

Replace Talk number with your 10-digit FrontDesk Talk number, then press Call. Codes can vary by plan. If one doesn’t work, call your carrier.

Step by step

  1. Find your FrontDesk Talk number

It’s the number we give you during setup. Keep it handy as 10 digits with no spaces.

  2. Open your phone’s keypad

Use the regular phone app, the same one you use to make calls.

  3. Dial the code for no answer

Dial the code below with your FrontDesk Talk number, then press Call. You’ll see or hear a confirmation.

    **61*Talk number#

  4. Add busy and unreachable

Repeat with these two codes so calls still get answered when you’re on another call or out of signal.

    **67*Talk number# and **62*Talk number#

Good to know

  • Want more rings before it forwards? On many phones you can add a ring time in seconds: **61*[Talk number]**20# waits about 20 seconds.
  • On an iPhone you can also turn on Settings, Phone, Call Forwarding. That setting forwards every call, the same as the always code.

Test it

  1. Call your business number from a different phone.
  2. If you set up always, you should hear your FrontDesk Talk greeting right away. If you set up no answer, let it ring without picking up.
  3. Check your text messages. A Talk Note, the summary of the call, should arrive a moment after you hang up.

Turn it off

Dial ##002# and press Call. That turns off every kind of forwarding at once.

Before you cancel FrontDesk Talk, turn off forwarding so calls go back to your phone.

Questions

I got an error when I dialed the code.

Check that you used two stars at the start and a pound sign at the end, with no spaces. If it still fails, forwarding may not be on your plan. Call AT&T at 611 from your phone.

Will my callers know the call was forwarded?

No. They dial your usual number and hear your receptionist. Nothing sounds different on their end.

Does forwarding cost extra?

Most plans include forwarding. Some carriers count forwarded calls against your minutes if your plan isn’t unlimited. Check with your carrier if you’re not sure.

Can I still make calls from my phone?

Yes. Forwarding only changes where incoming calls go. Outgoing calls work the same as before.

Can I switch between always and no answer?

Yes. Turn one off and the other on anytime. Many owners use no answer during the day and always at night.

Would porting my number be better?

Forwarding is quickest. Porting moves your number to us so you can drop the old line. Read the porting guide.
