Step by step
Keep your current service on
Don’t cancel anything yet. Canceling first can release your number before the port finishes.
Gather three things
The name and address on the account, your account number, and your transfer or port-out PIN. A recent bill has most of it. Mobile carriers usually let you create a transfer PIN in their app.
Send us the request
Tell us which number to bring over and sign the authorization. We submit it to your carrier and keep you posted.
Forward in the meantime
Want the AI answering today? Forward your calls while the port is in progress. Nothing is lost when it finishes.
Test, then cancel the old line
Once the port completes, call your number from another phone. When you hear your receptionist, you can cancel the old service.
Forward or port?
Not sure? Start by forwarding. It takes a minute, and you can port later. Find your forwarding guide.
Questions
How long does a port take?
Mobile numbers often move in a few days. Landlines and business lines can take one to two weeks. Your carrier sets the pace, and we tell you the date once they confirm.
Will my phone stop working during the port?
No. Your number keeps working on your old carrier until the moment it switches. The switch itself usually takes a few minutes.
Can I port a number that’s on a contract?
Yes, but your old carrier may charge an early termination fee or ask you to pay off a device. Check with them before you start.
What if the port is rejected?
Usually the name, address, or PIN doesn’t match what the carrier has. We tell you what to fix and resubmit.
Can I take my number with me if I leave?
Yes. You keep ownership of a number you port to us. Ask for a port-out before your service ends.
Do I have to port?
No. Forwarding works well for most businesses. Port when you want to drop your old phone bill or run everything from one place.
